MATERIALS

HOOK: MUSTAD 9671 2X LONG NYMPH
THREAD: BROWN 6/0
RIB: MED. FRENCH OVAL TENSIL
TAIL: PHEASANT TAIL FIBERS OR
BROWN HACKLE BARBS
ABDOMEN: HARE'S EAR DUBBING
WING CASE: PHEASANT TAIL FIBERS
OR TURKEY TAIL QUILL SECTIONS

THORAX:
HARE'S EAR DUBBING

NOTE* Tying the Hare's Ear is a lot like tying the Pheasant Tail Nymph and some operations are simular to tying the Light Cahill. Using the instructions from other flies and modifing the materials or amounts will help you tie flies not covered here. Below is a list of operations and the results.

1. START THREAD

2. WRAP LEAD WEIGHT

3. TIE IN HACKLE BARB TAIL>

4. TIE IN RIB MATERIAL>

5.DUB ABDOMEN>

6. WRAP RIB MATERIAL>

7. TIE IN WING CASE>

8. FORM DUBBING LOOP AND WRAP THORAX>

 

9. PULL WINGCASE FORWARD AND TIE OFF

10. WHIP FINISH
